“Too old at 76. He won't last five minutes. Should have elected a much younger man. Look how good John-Paul II was and he was in his 50s when elected. It's time an age limit was set. I would suggest 65, or even 60.”

“It means the Catholic Church has a Jesuit Pontiff,
why speculate what he does with it - you'll find out in time, but will it effect you if you aren't a Catholic? unlikely.”

“I watched it unfold live on Sky News and found it a bit disappointing as it was over before it began. The long-term rein of the new Pope I am unsure he is 76 years old so all depends on his health etc. It is great to see a new Pope though.”

“It does almost astound me that 'democrat' can make no comment about any story, even the appointment of a new pope without mentioning the mayor of Leicester. Democrat you come across like a teenager in love seeing the whole world through the prism of Peter Soulsby.

This pope seems great - he's so humble he travels economy class on the plane and even goes on buses. Maybe one day I can be so humble. Oh hang on, that's typical behaviour of most people.”

“The Pope is just a figurehead a symbol of faith for many people. Good or bad comes from within anyone, God gave man freewill for a reason, and you are free to make your own path in life. Some people in inspire you, others will not.”
