“wow someone not moaning about massive public sector pensions. I have taken a £1300 pay cut and I am a lucky one. Some staff have lost £4000 and more. But we carry on because our pension makes it worthwile? or will it.”

“My Missus is a Civil Servant, for an Un-named "Company" (Department), based in Keyworth Nottinghamshire, which forms Part of the National Environmental Research Council, and employ a lot of Geologists.. (Enough Clues)..

They had a meeting the other day where balloted questions could be answered by their Deputy Director (a newish recruit from the world of private sector business).

One question was asked by Ballot, -

If you can't guess the question, it was "Will the Director's be refusing their bonuses this year?"

The Board had the chance to Vet the questions, and elected to answer them all, and the written response read out to the 500 or So staff by the 2nd in Command of this government department was:

    "None of your XXXXXXXX Business!!"

Why do the Public sector need to use Bonuses on top of salaries to lure business big wigs to work for them, and to retain them? Why not grow your own? This is not a football club, it's a public department.”

“@Chappy1884: In fairness, the organisation you are referring to is not a true public sector organisation as it only receives some of its funding from the government.

But that aside, you do make a valid point.”
