“While visiting Bradgate Park last week I noticed that the parking charge for motorcycles is the same as for cars. Taking into account that a car takes up around a third of the space that a car does this seems very unfair, but what concerned me even more is, "where do they expect the ticket to be displayed on a motorcycle?". If the ticket was self adhesive, (which it is not) it could be easily removed from the motorcycle screen and stuck on someone's windscreen. As it has no adhesive backing it would have to be placed on the bike which could lead to it being blown away by a gust of wind or removed and placed in a car windscreen. The ticket machine did not allow a registration number to be entered to stop this from happening. A biker who parked in Bradgate park car park would run a serious risk of returning to find a yellow notice of non payment on his bike. These I am sure DO have self adhesive backing.
A lot of councils like Charnwood Borough do not charge to park a motorcycle in most of their car parks because they see bikes as environmentally friendly and do not clog the streets like cars do. I for one will not park my car in Bradgate Park any more when I take my dog as a protest and will in future look to park on the road in the surrounding area causing a nuisance to local residents like a lot of other inconsiderate people already do.”
“Good point but I suspect that it works the other way as well. If a penalty notice was attached you could just say your ticket blew away. I doubt very much they could be bothered to take anyone to court.
The website and the accounts of the charitable trust that runs the park both state "A fixed penalty ticket and/or wheel clamping policy is in force to ensure effective enforcement of parking charges." but gives no further details. I wonder who they use to enforce this? Maybe they could answer this conundrum?”
