Memories of living in a prefab

Wednesday, April 22, 2009, 09:30

Dunton Bassett: Heritage Group members enjoyed learning about prefab housing during their meeting on Tuesday, April 21.

Brian Johnson, who himself lived in a prefab for many years spoke about 'living in a box', and explained that there were in fact several different designs for these prefabricated buildings, erected around the country to provide instant housing for families during and at the end of the war.

This was the group's last meeting in Dunton village hall until their annual general meeting in September.

An outing has been arranged to the Manor House at Donington-le-Heath in May, and a further outing is being organised for July, probably to Sudbury Hall.
