Splendours from the Doge's Chapel
Venetian Music by Giovanni Gabrieli
Ex Cathedra Consort with His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts are performing a programme of music by the famous Venetian composer, Giovanni Gabrieli, on Thursday October 18th at St James the Greater Church, Leicester. Ex Cathedra, conducted by Jeffrey Skidmore, are one of the leading vocal ensembles on the international scene - indeed, some of the singers for this concert have already performed here this year with The Sixteen. His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts are also known internationally as the leading period wind instrument group. Concert organ and strings complete the platform.
The evening promises to be an excellent concert of dynamic and exciting music resonating around St James, itself built in the Venetian style. When Ex Cathedra performed the Monteverdi Vespers two years ago many people said it was the best concert yet at St James.
