A public meeting debating the effect that spending cuts will have on women will take place on October 18.

Councillor Sarah Russell, assistant city mayor, and Sara Swire, chief executive of women's charity New Dawn New Day, will be among the speakers at the event, organised by Leicestershire Fawcett Group. It aims to explore how services are being affected by the recession.

It is being held at the Secular Hall, Humberstone Gate, Leicester, from 7.30pm.
