Own goal? Shabby Walkers needs to smarten up its act
As someone who passes the Walkers Stadium every day, I can't help but notice that our flagship stadium is becoming a dreadful eyesore. If we are to succeed in becoming a venue for the 2018 World Cup, Leicester City Football Club must take steps to improve the appearance of the ground.
The quantity and appearance of the banners which are fixed to the exterior of the Walkers Stadium are absolutely awful. Really, very bad – why do they not impose design standards on these things?
Most of them look like they have been designed by amateurs.
They are too big, too loud and there are far too many of them, in too many garish colours. And the ones which have been up there for several years are now filthy as well.
The latest one to appear (for Marks Electrical) is so bad, it's embarrassing. I can't imagine Manchester United, Liverpool or Chelsea allowing that sort of eyesore to hang from their stadium.
This sort of thing doesn't reflect well on the club and the city. The outside of the stadium is so overcrowded with those horrible things. They are so big and loud and have no class at all. Visiting supporters must go away thinking we have a Mickey Mouse ground that looks like it's made of Lego.
I realise that the club needs to generate revenue from advertising, but in future they should take steps to ensure it looks more tasteful and pleasing on the eye.
Mr C Dineen, Leicester.

“Crikey, I wonder what Mr.Dineen would have thought of the City's Filbert Street stadium!!”
