Three held over spate of thefts
Three people have been arrested as part of a police campaign to tackle a series of burglaries.
Officers, including some working undercover, arrested the suspects while they were patrolling Belgrave and Rushey Mead, in Leicester, on Tuesday.
The officers, based at Keyham Lane police station, in Hamilton, said the two neighbourhoods had seen an above-average number of burglaries in recent weeks.
Sergeant Mark Zanker, of Belgrave police, said: "The increase is only slight, but we are trying to pick up on this at an early stage.
"We're using a variety of methods, including plain clothes patrols. In the meantime, we would urge people to be aware of home security."
Police crime statistics show there were 146 homes raided in Belgrave and Rushey Mead between April last year and January this year, compared with 144 in the same period a year earlier.
Anyone with information about burglaries anywhere in the city or county can call Leicestershire police on 0116 222 2222. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
