Please help us – make donations
Tonight, one in seven of us around the world will go to bed hungry. It's a huge injustice which must be addressed.
Helping small-scale farmers to grow more is the best way to make sure that everyone has enough to eat.
Small-scale farmers already feed nearly one in three people around the globe.

I have always supported the fabulous work the Red Cross does to help – it reaches far away places with food, medical supplies and so on.
But over the past three years, I have suffered with osteoarthritis in my spine and, while trying to get some comforting equipment to make life a little less stressful, my occupational therapist was told by a representative of the Red Cross that Hathern was "outside of their area" and I could not have a simple chair delivered.
I think next time I donate to Red Cross collections I may think of a silly excuse not to.
Christopher Lakin, Hathern.

“Sorry to read the letter from Christopher Lakin concerning the chair that he was unable to have delivered due to his home being 'out of area'. It is not clear if this relates to The British Red Cross as the equipment mentioned was a chair, which is not an item of equipment that The British Red Cross loans out.
The British Red Cross Dial a Wheelchair Service does loan out wheelchairs on a short term basis in the Leicestershire and Rutland area and Hathern is included in that area.
If you would like to loan a wheelchair or we can help in any way please call The Dial a Wheelchair Service on 0116 2700210.”

“Population control is also a good way to ensure there is sufficient food. There are other charities equally needy. LOROS, Rainbows, Age UK, the list is endless...”
