David's tales about the tallships

Humberstone: At the June meeting of the WI members were treated to an illustrated talk from David Bolton entitled Help My Leg's Fallen Off.

He told of a sailing trip on HMS Nelson, a tall ship especially for disabled people.

David talked about the variety of different characters who made up the crew as they sailed from Southampton to Zeebruge to join lots more tallships and how his artificial leg fell off.

Humberstone WI is held at Abbots Road United Reformed Church on the first Thursday in the month at 2.30pm

Humberstone: Members of Abbots Road United Reformed Church are supporting an organisation called Mary's Meals.

This is to give children around the world a meal a day. The work is carried out by local volunteers and the organisation provides the food and means of cooking.
