Firefighters used specialised cutting equipment to free one person trapped inside the wreckage of a car after a traffic accident.

The crash involving two vehicles took place on Overton Road, off Uppingham Road, in Leicester, just before 9pm last night.

Two fire engines were called out to the scene.

Firefighters also helped paramedics to get two other people out of a vehicle.

All three casualties taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary.
