Everyone can join in street race

Runners of all ages and abilities are being invited to take part in one of two street races.

The events take place on Wednesday evening in Hinckley to raise money for the Leicester hospice charity, Loros.

One is five kilometres and the other is just one mile, and they have been organised by Hinckley Running Club, Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, National Grid and various other businesses.

Companies are urged to encourage their staff to take part and spur each other to boost the charity fund.

A council spokesman said the races are open to club athletes, first-time runners and children alike. Under-eights must be accompanied by an adult.

He said: "There are prizes of up to £100 on offer to the fastest runners and everyone who finishes either race will receive a medal."
