Footballers are being invited to form teams and sign up for a new five-a-side league.

The North West Leicestershire five-a-side league kicks off this month at Hood Park leisure centre, in Ashby.

Organised by the district council, it is open to men's and women's teams and players aged between 16 and 21.

Councillor Alison Smith, deputy leader of North West Leicestershire District Council, said: "This new league is a great way for groups of people to get together, make friends, keep fit and have fun.

An indoor league will take place on Sundays and an outdoor league will be held on Wednesdays – both between 6pm and 8pm.

Entry is free but each game costs £12. Spaces are limited.
