In a headline for a tribute in yesterday's Mercury we misspelt the name of Rex Fray. We apologise for the mistake.

Mr Fray, from Hinckley, died on September 8 – the day before his 101st birthday.

The former RAF man's life saw him totting up almost a million miles as a lorry driver, meeting Gregory Peck and appearing on TV quiz show The Weakest Link.

His many achievements also included playing in the FA Cup for Hinckley United in 1932, beating Rugby and then losing 3-1 to Walsall.
