Chuter says: "When I first came to the club, he was about 16, in the Academy and was a bit loose. He was the same size he is now. He would get into fights in games and, in training, he was a bit hit-and-miss. But he went away for a year or so and came back a different player. The amount of tries he has scored out of nothing, and finished things when it seemed impossible to do so, is staggering. He has been doing that for eight years. The Samoans are quite shy guys and it's a culture where you respect your elders, something that has gone from our culture. Alesana used to carry (elder brother) Henry's kit around when he was at Leicester, and Manu carries Alesana's now. If they step out of line, they let each other know about it. I have seen that at first hand when Henry clipped Alesana around the ear in Biarritz one weekend. They can be scary characters. They are full of muscle and you don't know if they are looking at you in a friendly way or not. Alesana is a game-changer and it is a shame he is leaving."

Horacio Agulla

Winger, 27, new club yet to be decided

"He has been a fantastic addition to the squad. We didn't know who he was when he first arrived. I spoke to Steve Thompson about him because they were team-mates at Brive, and he said that he had never seen anyone sit so many players down as he does. When he turned up, he was not much to look at. We were wondering if it was the same guy Thommo was talking about. But in his first game he was knocking people over left, right and centre. In the last few months, his form has gone though the roof. It's a measure of the man that, while all the discussions about his contract were up in the air, he has got his head down and produced the goods. His will be massive boots to fill. He is a bubbly character off the pitch, too. He has a great sense of humour and we still can't tell a word he says."

James Grindal

Scrum-half, 31, Bristol

"Jimmy was here when I first turned up and he's a brilliant club bloke. He has been on fire in the last few months here. It's tough to see him go, but there are lots of guys here who are now much younger. He's not changed in the 12 years I have known him. He has a cracking family, too, and will be missed."

George Skivington

Lock-forward, 29, London Irish

"I am really disappointed that Skivs is going. He is leaving because his family want to get back to London. He came here in 2010 and had been a good player at Wasps, but he was a bit lost with our line-out at first. He just got his head down and worked hard and he has done that for two years. He came from a club like Wasps, where the set-piece is incidental, to a club like ours where it's the most important part of the game. But that didn't faze him and he played in a Premiership final in his first year at the club. He has played the best rugby of his career since he announced he was leaving, and that is the measure of the man. He will be a great addition to that London Irish squad down there."

Billy Twelvetrees

Centre/fly-half, 23, Gloucester

"He was a skinny 18-year-old when I joined the club. He then went to Bedford and came back like some Greek god. He was 16 stone of muscle with long blond hair and is the person who I would most like to look like, if I didn't look like myself! He has been moved around positions but he has been fantastic at times. He has a massive boot. He nearly won the game for us against the Ospreys a couple of years ago and that will be my abiding memory of him."

Jeremy Staunton

Fly-half, 31, new club unknown

"He always played well against us when he was with Wasps. He has been hampered by injuries and has had a dodgy back for the last two years, but he has been a fantastic club player and his banter in the changing room is good too. His attitude in the circumstances of not playing as many games as he would have liked this season has been tremendous."

"What can I say about him? I remember when I first saw him in 1999 when I was at Saracens. He was a big lump with massive milk-bottle glasses. We were away in pre-season and he was my room-mate. I think he said about eight words throughout the duration of our stay in Biarritz. My abiding memory of him was doing a warm-up during that trip, and balls were bouncing off his face and his knees as we ran around. We were a successful team at the time and had big names like Danny Grewcock, and we all looked at each other wondering what this guy was doing. Was he just a fill-in? Then we had a scrummage session and he just hoofed the scrum machine around like you would not believe. He scrummaged like I have never seen before and, probably, not like I have seen since. His technique was flawless and he was a very strong bloke. He was like a steamroller and one of the best props of our generation."

“Alright for us Tigers nuts, but for the more general interest reader you might have included player names against each papagraph.”
