Three men arrested after elephant allegedly beaten at Twycross Zoo
Three people have been arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal after an elephant was allegedly beaten at Twycross Zoo.
Leicestershire Police said three men had been arrested and questioned in connection with the unnecessary suffering of an elephant at the county zoo.
The offence happened last month, a force spokeswoman confirmed.
The men were released on police bail, pending further inquiries, she added.

In a statement Leicestershire Police said: "We are currently carrying out an investigation in connection with the unnecessary suffering to an elephant at Twycross Zoo.
"The offence happened in September 2012.
"Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on police bail pending further inquiries."
The spokeswoman confirmed that an investigation into the incident is continuing.
