A new focus for Terry as snap of fairground wins him top camera
The simple pleasures of a seaside holiday have bagged a long-serving Leicester Mercury employee a top photography prize.
Regional facilities manager Terry Ponsford took this picture of a fairground ride in Scarborough in July.
He submitted it to a competition run by magazine Coast and won first prize in the "holidays" category.
Terry, 59, of Knighton, Leicester, said: "I was very surprised but very pleased. I took the photograph with a camera I was given by the company for my 30 years' service.

"I saw the competition before I went to Scarborough and went out looking for a good photograph for each category.
"The reason I chose the fairground picture was because it summed up my idea of what a holiday was when I was a kid – scrummy things to eat and all the fun of the fair. I like the way the words are cut off and you have to finish them off yourself."
Terry won an Olympus PEN E-PL5 camera, worth £599, and his picture was featured in the holiday magazine's December/January issue.
"It is better than any camera I would buy myself so I am very pleased," he said. "I think winning the competition has given me even more enthusiasm for the hobby."
