Allotment raids: Man is charged
More than 30 sheds on the Meadow Lane allotments, in Birstall, and the Church Street allotments, in Syston, were broken into in the last 90 days.
The police wrote to allotment-holders warning them about the break-ins and asking them to review their security.
They have arrested a man who has been charged with 14 counts of burglary and one offence of going equipped.
The man, who has not been named, has been released on bail to appear at Leicester Crown Court on January 2.
A number of items have been recovered from a property in Syston and two open days are being held for shed owners to view the property. Anyone who has had anything stolen from a shed in the past three months can book an appointment to view the property between 10am and 6pm today and Sunday at Syston police station.
To book an appointment to view the property, call 0116 222 2222 and ask to be put through to the front inquiry office at Syston.
