Athletics: Ramsey makes it a double

British Masters international Kate Ramsey made it two victories out of two in the second Leicestershire Winter Road-Running League race of the campaign.

The 40-year-old from Barrow was a comfortable winner in Sunday's Markfield 10k from a big women's field that attracted 179 to the start line.

Ramsey clocked 37min 48sec over the undulating lap from South Charnwood High School to finish more than half-a-minute clear of runner-up Clare McKittrick (38.22), the new Midland Masters XC champion, with Barrow newcomer Catherine Draper third in 38.38.

Winning just as easily in the men's race was Ashley Sabin.

The 21-year-old took the honours in 32.54, well ahead of Leicester Half-Marathon champion Mark Couldwell. Nathaniel Walker headed a strong Leicester Tri Club representation in third. Leading details:
