Blind woman attacked
The 64-year-old suffered injuries to her head and knees but refused to let go of the bag and the attackers left empty-handed.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the "despicable" attack at 6.15pm on Sunday in Gedding Road, in North Evington, Leicester.
The woman, who is registered blind and walks with a cane, told officers she sensed there were two people behind her.
A police spokesman said: "She suddenly felt someone pull at her handbag. She did not let go of the bag and fell to the ground.
"The suspects ran off towards St Saviours Road. Nothing was stolen but she sustained minor injuries to her head and knees."
Detective Constable Tom Haines said: "This is a despicable act, which has left the victim upset and worried. We are appealing to anyone who witnessed this or has any information about those responsible, to please get in touch urgently.
"It's important anyone with information gets in touch with us."
