Leicester woman denies stabbing three in street
Saajidah Mullan, 20, is alleged to have fled to India a few days after the incident in Belvoir Street, in the city centre, on August 29 last year.
Police put out an all ports warning and she was arrested on her return, at Heathrow Airport, on April 15.
Mullan gave "no comment" interviews.
She declined to answer questions, including if she went to India because of the alleged triple stabbing, Leicester Crown Court was told.
Instead of answering questions, she issued three prepared statements to the police.
They were read out to the jury. In the first, Mullan said: "I'm not prepared to answer any questions at this stage. I have made this decision of my own free will."
In the second, Mullan said: "Due to the lapse of time, I am unable to recall the exact movements of August 29, 2008.
"I was not involved in any fight on the night in question, as I have been to various bars but cannot say which ones.
"I accept being in the vicinity but deny any involvement in any incident."
In the third statement, she said: "I may have touched various items on the night in question, but I cannot recall touching a knife.
"I was not in possession of the knife in question and I did not see any other person in possession of a knife."
The jury was told a knife, with two of the alleged victims' DNA on it, was recovered an hour after the incident on a step behind a metal container near roadworks in nearby Bishop Street.
Mullan, of Ellesmere Place, Braunstone, Leicester, denies intentionally wounding Billie Hewerdine, 46, and her daughter, Carlie Winkless, who was celebrating her 20th birthday that evening.
Mullan also denies intentionally wounding Miss Winkless's friend, Leona Carr, 21.
All three had emergency surgery and survived their injuries.
