With the dust hardly settled on Strictly Come Dancing, TV companies are throwing more dance shows our way.

Anstey dance teacher Roxanne Mortimer is the latest hopeful to show off her moves.

Last Saturday, the Leicester Mercury featured Charlie Bruce, who is taking part in the BBC1 show So You Think You Can Dance.

Tomorrow, Roxanne will audition for judges with her group, Beyond Repair, for Sky1's Got To Dance. Presented by Davina McCall, the show is billed as a search to find the nation's dance stars of the future, with people of all ages and dance styles taking part.

Beyond Repair have already wowed the judges – Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, West End star Adam Garcia and Ashley Banjo, from Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity – and they will find out tomorrow whether they have made it through to the final 18 acts.

Roxanne, 26, who works as a dance teacher at DrummonDance, in Fleckney, and has been dancing with Beyond Repair for just over three years, said: "It's contemporary dancing and it's quite different. We throw each other around quite a bit.

"A friend e-mailed us about the show and we just thought we'd go for it. We did a first audition and then got a call back saying they'd like us to be on TV.

"I can't remember everything about the day because it was so exciting, it's all a blur. I can't wait to see it on TV so I can remember it all.

"Kimberley really understood us and said she'd back us and Ashley liked us too, although he thought some people might not understand us.

"Davina was lovely. I've got a few tattoos so we were talking about that and she was showing me hers. My mum and her really clicked. I actually lost my mum for most of the day because she got on so well with Davina."

Roxanne started her dancing career at the Charnwood School of Dance and Drama and at Brooksby College before moving to London to study at Laban, a professional contemporary dance school.

She said: "We entered this to get our name out and hopefully we'll be able to perform more."

On Sunday, the judges will select 18 acts for the three semi-finals. The top two acts from each show will make it to the grand final and the winning act – which will take home a £100,000 prize – will be selected by viewers.

Catch Roxanne and Beyond Repair on Got To Dance on Sky 1 on Sunday at 6pm.
