Singer Miley Cyrus gave one of her young fans the shock of her life when she set up a surprise trip to meet her in the flesh.

Georgina Askham, 10, believed she was heading to a normal Christmas party when she was whisked off to meet one of the world's biggest teen idols.

Georgina, who was born with cystic fibrosis, was waiting at home for a taxi to take her to the Leicester Royal Infirmary children's Christmas party.

However, the youngster, from Ratby, was amazed when a chauffeur-driven Mercedes pulled up at her front door with two tickets to see singer Miley Cyrus in concert at the LG Arena, in Birmingham.

Georgina is a big fan of the singer – who is also the title character in Disney's Hannah Montana series and films.

She had asked children's dream-come-true charity Wishes4Kids for tickets in November, but had no idea if she had been successful.

Georgina and her dad Lee, 33, were driven to the venue where they received VIP treatment, including some of the best seats in the auditorium – right next to the stage.

But the highlight of the surprise was a private meeting with Miley before the concert, where Georgina was able to talk to the singer, have her photo taken and get an autograph.

Georgina said: "When they said I was to going to see Miley instead of going to the hospital party I just sat there, shocked.

"I was surprised, happy and excited but I couldn't believe it when I met her – she gave me a cuddle and said 'hi' and I was really happy.

"I've been e-mailing the photos of me and Miley to all my friends, and I still can't believe it's real."

Wishes4Kids charity director Russell Brickett said: "Staff at the hospital had given her a form to fill out a few months ago and she put down three wishes – seeing Miley was top.

"This request was slightly unusual because Georgina filled out the wish form herself, it's usually the parents who do that.

"What makes this adorable is that she filled it out in pencil, which I think is lovely.

"She is such a nice girl and she has shown real initiative by making the request herself."

Georgina visits Leicester Royal Infirmary every three months for treatment. Cystic fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with mucus, making it hard to breathe and digest food.

Dad Lee, who also enjoyed the concert, said: "It was nice because it was about her. Georgina spends a lot of time in hospital and taking medication, so to have a night where she could forget about everything for a while was magic."

Mum Julie, 32, said: "She was still buzzing in the morning, she had such a great time and she slept in the Miley Cyrus T-shirt she bought at the concert.

"I'd like to thank Russell for arranging everything, it has meant so much to Georgina and to us as well."
