Open and shut case for schools

Presently, I'm in Val d'Isere, France, where the World Skiing Championships are being held.

The score at present is Leicester 4, Val d'Isere 0 – that is in inches of snow.

However, the score for the season is Leicester 4, Val d'Isere 60 inches.

The schools in Val d'Isere are open.

In fact, they have been open all winter, despite the fact that there has been over a foot of snow in the town since November.

If the Val d'Isere schools closed due to snow, they would never open.

Mike Stevens, Leicester.
