Breaking news: Two guilty of murdering teenager

Tuesday, October 28, 2008, 09:30

A drug dealer and a 16-year-old boy were today convicted of murdering teenager Bradley Whitfield on New Year's Day.

Onlookers at Nottingham Crown Court cheered as the verdicts were delivered on Darren Carr (35) and the boy who cannot be named.

Carr's girlfriend, Nicola Faulds, 32, and a teenage girl aged 16, were found guilty of manslaughter.

Bradley died after being stabbed with a broken vodka bottle in the neck outside the Roxy Chippy, on Fosse Road South, Leicester.

The 16-year-old, of Hallam Crescent East, Braunstone, died minutes after the attack.

Carr, of Caldecote Road, Braunstone, showed no emotion as the jury of six men and six women found him guilty of murder.

The boy cried as he was found guilty of the same charge. He had admitted brawling with Bradley.

Nicola Faulds, who admitted supplying the murder weapon and hitting Bradley with a pole, was inconsolable as she was convicted of manslaughter. The girl was convicted of the same charge.

Mrs Justice Dobbs adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports.

Carr was convicted of dealing cocaine in July 2006.
