If olny road sign had the right spelling!
It has been amusing residents and motorists for years – but still no-one has corrected this road marking.
The misspelt order "Residents Olny" was painted on to the surface of Lexham Street, in Belgrave, Leicester, several years ago, according to local people.
-

Residents say non-residents still park in their street, could it be something to do with this sign being misspelt?
But it appears that whoever carried out the work could not face the embarrassment of returning to the scene of their comical mistake.
Dipak Modi, of Newington Off-Licence, which is across the road from the junction, said: "Everybody has been laughing about this for years. I think quite a few people rang up the council but nothing was ever done about it.
Rima Raichande, of Lexham Street, said: "It has been like that since before we lived here. I don't think anyone is really bothered that it is spelt wrong. But people still park if they don't live here."
Are there any badly-written signs elsewhere in the county? If so, let us know on 0116 2222 4241.
Footnote! Make that 0116 222 4241. Thanks for pointing it out (see comments).
