A CITY MP will lead an inquiry into the nation's DNA database.

Leicester East MP Keith Vaz is chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, who yesterday said they would look into concerns outlined by the Human Genetic Commission.

Mr Vaz said: "I agree with the concerns of the commission in regards to the DNA database.

"The European Court of Human Rights has ruled it illegal to hold the DNA of innocent people, there are currently five million profiles on the database, of which an estimated 750,000 are innocent people who have not been charged."
