“ Stepping into San Carlo was like stepping over to Italy. From the moment you enter you are greeted by beautifully presented tables and magically Italian decor. The menu is filled with Italian classics and some great meat and fish dishes, plenty of flavours for whatever you fancy, complimented by a very tempting 'Specials' Menu. A nice little touch was the complimentary olives while looking at the menu. We had a starter of Oysters and Scallops, lovely fresh seafood, very tasty and presented well. The main courses continued to please, loads of flavour and a hearty Italian portion. I was very impressed with the knowledgeable and attentive staff. We were expertly guided on their wine list and the staff were happy to help us with any queries or needs. Overall, a great night out for dinner. I will certainly be returning soon to share the experience with friends! ”

Arrogant and over rated

“I visited this restaurant on Saturady and was very disappointed. The staff were aloof and arrogant, the fish was not fresh and when I complained about the vegeatables being cold I got the old excuse of, "sorry we're busy". The food was mediocre, over priced and the ingredients poor quality. Think this restaurant has had its day.”

Located on Granby Street right on the high street, San Carlo is renowned for not only their delicious cuisine ranging from pasta and pizza dishes to fresh fish and meals with a contemporary twist, but their service has always been top notch. “ Fantastic service, the staffs are very professional, kind and hard working. I have to say the food was truly delightful, I was very happy with the standard of the food here. The atmosphere is fantastic, I really enjoy eating here and I recommend this restaurant to everyone. ”

Nice Food

“I have eaten here before and it takes some beating.Its a cracking place for a decent meal with proper waiters rather than surely teenagers.The food is really nice right from pizzas to beautiful fresh fish with amazing pasta too. Always has a good buzzy atmosphere and never disappoints. ”

Good food - worth a visit

“San Carlo, on Granby Street, Leicester - I visited this restaurant just before Christmas last year, which excuses the slower than average service. The food was lovely, large portions - and a varied menu, worth waiting for! I would recommend a visit during quieter times.”

Classy restaurant

“very well presented restaurant , nicely set out. lovely friendly staff. You can see all your food cooked as there is an open kitchen. Always willing to sing to the birthday person sometimes bringing out a compliment pudding with a sparkler which is a very nice gesture. The food was lovely and i would defiantly recommend to a friend especially if trying to impress someone ”

Seafood lovers haven

“Great big glass fronted building means you have a view of the busy street (or they have a view of you), this restaurant specialises in seafood and whereas I could take it or leave it, a few of my friends swear it to be their favourite restaurant in Leicester. Usual Italian fare is to be found as well as an extended choice of dishes featuring fish and seafood. For more seasonal dishes make sure to check the specials board.”

good

“lovely itallin food the staff are all italian which gives this restaurant a real authentic feel. the fillet steak here is the best in town altghough it is very expensive. i found that the staff rushed you through courses tho and this became annoying they are like a production line get one table ate and out get the other on in, they also add ten percent to your bill for service which i found a bit cheeky

overall lovely food”

Average

“I found this restaurant a bit too fancy for my liking and the dish i had (meatballs) were extremely salty. I enjoyed the nice ice cold italian beer and my date enjoyed her meal (pizza). I did find the staff were a bit pretentious when i mentioned the saltiness of my balls, but hey thats life. i would not go again any time soon. ”
