Douglas Bachelor's letter about hunting ("No return to cruelty", Mailbox, January 8) is spot on.

We have no need for this barbaric blood sport to be re-introduced back into our society. The sheer thought of it fills me with anger and disgust and prompts me to say the only vermin in this issue is the two-legged variety.

We can get by perfectly okay without the savage slaughter of another species for the pleasure of a certain few.
