Is this right way to spend tsunami aid?
As the year ends, the events of 2011 will be recalled.
One of the most horrifying and disastrous was the Japanese earthquake and tsunami last March.
Governments and citizens throughout the world donated to a relief fund to help the unfortunate victims.
It has been revealed that environmental activists have been so successful in blocking the Japanese whale hunt that the Japanese Government is using 30 million dollars from the tsunami relief fund to pay for a private security force to protect the whaling fleet.
Disaster relief money was intended to save the victims of the tsunami, many of whom are trapped in radiation hot-spots.
It should not be used to facilitate the killing of magnificent creatures.
This is yet another instance of well-intentioned donations being used for questionable purposes.
Mrs Elizabeth Allison, Aylestone.
