Mr Weinstein said: "Curve is one of the leading regional theatres in the UK.

"The state-of-the-art theatre enables us to put on this huge show, with the massive technical requirements for our big- budget set and production."

Curve's chief executive, Fiona Allan, said: "We are extremely proud to be hosting the world premiere of Finding Neverland.

"It's a fantastic coup for Curve and for Leicester to have this new musical staged here first.

"We are delighted to be working with the Leicester Mercury and we look forward to welcoming their readers to the theatre for this special event."

For a chance to get half-price tickets, cut out the voucher below and take it to the box office at Curve, in Rutland Street; Visit Leicester, in Gallowtree Gate, or the Curve booth upstairs at the Highcross shopping centre.

One voucher is needed per ticket. A maximum of six tickets per person can be purchased.

The holders of the 200 special tickets will also be invited to an after-show party on the night, where they will get the chance to meet the cast and Mercury editor Richard Bettsworth.

Mr Bettsworth said: "We are delighted to be able to team up with Curve.

"Its programme is consistently entertaining and enjoyable, and Finding Neverland will be another massive hit."

Curve ticket office manager James Broderick, 25, said: "There's definitely a lot of buzz over Finding Neverland. The musical has never been shown anywhere else in the world before and it's the first time a performance has ever been premiered in Leicester."

People out and about near the theatre yesterday said they had heard a lot about the production.

Andy Redfern, 20, from Wigston, said: "I know a lot of people will be interested in it and I think Curve is a great place for people to go to in Leicester."

With the voucher, half price tickets will cost between £12.35 and £16.25.

“Considering the Curve has been closed for several weeks whilst the stage is built for this show, it very well better produce to goods! The Curve already operates in the red, what it doesn't need is any more flops!”
