It's baby steps, sweet treats and treasures
This heart-warming shot of toddler Jacob Grant giggling with his grandad, Gary, is an image his family will treasure forever.
As well as being a happy festive scene, the photo was taken shortly after 14-month-old Jacob took his very first steps.
His mum, Julie, who took the picture and entered it into the Mercury's Festive Fun competition, said: "It was on the Sunday before Christmas and it was the day Jacob started walking. Jacob was as excited about it as the rest of us."
Jacob has been Julie's favourite subject for photos ever since last April when she bought a camera. Julie, 36, of Mountsorrel, took Jacob to a professional photographer last spring to get a portrait done.
She said: "It cost an absolute fortune so we decided I'd buy a camera and learn how to take pictures myself. I got a Canon 600D and I've been going to classes at college."
The deadline has now closed and the judges are choosing the winner, who will receive £100 of Jessops vouchers.
A flood of last-minute entries came in on Saturday and Sunday, including one from 14-year-old Kainaat Khan of dozens of chocolate Santas.
John Stratton of Stadium Estate, Leicester, sent in his picture of decorations from his Christmas tree, made to look like a winter scene.
He said: "My mum's Norweigian, so we have Scandinavian decorations on our tree including this nisse, a Christmas goblin. I put cotton wool on the tree and bent the branches a bit so it looked like the nisse was walking in the woods."
Do not send any more entries in to our Festive Fun competition but look out for another one beginning in the coming weeks. The winner will be announced on Thursday.
