We’re almost 100% focusing on Christmas but it does only happen once a year so no apologies. 1. EVENT: Christmas at the Castle, Castle View, Leicester, LE1 5WH.
A Christmas event for all the family at historic Leicester Castle and also the Castle Green, with crafts for children, a visit from Santa, carol singers, food and craft stalls. Mince pies and hot drinks will also be available to buy. Kiddies crafts will take place between 11am – 2pm – booking is essential, there will be a small charge of £2.50 per child. There will be guided tours during the day. When: Saturday, 11am to 3pm.

2. MUSIC: Moira Annual Christmas Carols at Conkers, Rawdon Road, Swadlincote.
A concert of carols and seasonal music with Ibstock Bric-Brass Band. There's also the promise of a free hot chocolate and a mince pie. The organisers are reminding people attending that it's an outdoor event so wrap up warm and bring blankets! When: Friday, 7:30pm to 10pm. Adults £5, Children £4.

3. SHOPPING: Blokes Shopping Day (& Vintage Classic Car Meet) at Melton Market Place.
For all those chaps who may have left their shopping to the last minute this is the ideal event. Blokes Shopping Day (& Vintage Classic Car Meet) includes a gift wrapping service, pint promotion offer for any present bought in a Melton store. Throughout the day shoppers can enjoy street entertainment, music and some vintage cars. When: Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
4. MUSIC: Rainbows Christmas Concert at Bishop Street Methodist Church, Bishop Street, Leicester.
An evening of Christmas Carols from around the globe, raising money for Rainbows Children’s with the Leicester Theatre Group, Kainé Gospel Choir and Bella Divas. When: Saturday, from 7pm to 10pm. Tickets £10 and £5 for Under 18s

5. MUSIC: Roger Chapman at the Y Theatre, East Street, Leicester.
Leicester born rock star Roger Chapman (aka Chappo) is back in his home town to treat music fans to a night of rock classics. When: Friday, 9pm. Tickets £22.50

6. PANTO: Dick Whittington at Twycross Zoo, Burton Road Atherstone.
A traditional panto performance of Dick Whittington. Two hours of "good old-fashioned fun" is lined up with loads of opportunities to cheer hero Dick Whittington and boo the evil Captain Blood. When: Friday, Saturday, Sunday at 5pm. Adults £7.50, children up to 12 £6. Friends of Twycross £5.

7. FILM: It's a Wonderful Life at Phoenix Square, Midland Street, Leicester.
Continuing its annual tradition, the Phoenix is showing Capra's 1946 ode to family, community and the power of redemption. James Stewart plays George Bailey, a frustrated businessman who over the course of one night discovers the true meaning of Christmas.

8. CHILDREN'S THEATRE: Santa's New Sleigh at Curve, Rutland Street, Leicester.
Sprocket and Dibs have a problem! Christmas is fast approaching and Santa's sleigh is nowhere to be found. Will Sprocket and Dibs be able to create a new sleigh in time or will Christmas be cancelled? Can you help them save the day? 9. MORE PANTO: Robin Hood & the Babes in the Wood at the Little Theatre, Dover Street, Leicester.
The Little Theatre's show brings together Robin Hood, his Merry Men and the Babes in the Wood and promises "a happy ending with lots of sparkle and colour, fun and laughter along the way". A traditional panto for all the family. When: Until January 5.
