It's a pity Thomas More's feelings about the butchery of hunting did not extend to burning people at the stake, a fate that befell William Tyndale, a man commemorated in Leicester, who dared to translate the Bible into English so that anyone could read it.

It may be that More was instrumental in the betrayal to the authorities of Tyndale, with whom he disagreed, which betrayal led Tyndale to the stake.

J Byrne, Leicester.
