Martyn Waghorn is set to undergo another scan on his damaged hamstring as Leicester City continue to treat his injury with caution.

The 22-year-old striker has not featured this season since damaging a hamstring while on loan at Hull against Cardiff on October 1.

Initially, it was thought Waghorn would not be out for long, but City boss Nigel Pearson said the injury has turned out to be more serious than first feared, and he does not want to rush Waghorn back into action and risk damaging the hamstring further.

"He is making progress and he will have another scan this week," said Pearson.

" It would be nice to have him available, but now he is getting close we have to make sure he is 100 per cent and that he is clear to go, because reccurring hamstring injuries are not something a player of his age needs to be dealing with.

"It has been an awkward one but, when we have it totally resolved, he will be free to finish the season with us."

Midfielder Andy King and striker Jeff Schlupp are making good progress as they recover from injuries.

King has a heel problem while teenager Schlupp damaged knee ligaments last month.

"Andy is also making progress but the timescale we first talked about is likely to be the correct one," said Pearson, who initially said King would be out for several weeks.

"Jeff is making decent progress as well but he is not an imminent return."

“No rush, nice and easy does it. It Just goes to show what a quality squad we have got. No mention of Vassell though, how is he getting on? It seems that with all the injuries we have, it has simplified things for NP as he has only got a limited amount of players to work with. He seems to be getting more and more out of the players that are fit and those players are digging deep for each other and starting to look like a good team. All credit to them.

Come on Leicester! 3 points tonight.

    BLUE ARMY!”
