“ Situated just outside Cold Overton - this is well worth making the effort to visit. It's got a great gift shop and café - as well as everything you'd expect from a well stocked garden centre. At Christmas they have a huge selection of high quality Christmas decorations, as well as a Santa's Grotto which people travel from miles around to visit - thanks to the effort they put into the queuing area - complete with dancing Santa's and Polar Bears! ”

“Just been to Gates, which is less than a 15 mins drive from Oakham and it is absolutely spectacular. Couldn't move for baubles. Even if you're not in the market for decorations it's a great place to visit and will keep the kids amused for a couple of hours. Their Santa's Grotto is opening on November 19th. Even found out they sell fireworks.”

“If you live in Oakham you can't have failed to visit Gates - it's a genuine Rutland tourist attraction.
A wonderful range of plants, lovely gift section and scrumptious cakes in the cafe. We make it a must on our christmas to do list and marvel at the stunning christmas rooms before a visit to Santa in his grotto.
The rest of the year, you can easily spend an afternoon wandering round their amazing range of plants, garden furniture, gifts and, our favourite, Joules Clothing - one of the only local stockists
If you feel the need for some fresh air, rain or shine, head up to Cold Overton, blow away the cobwebs, shop till you drop, plan your spring garden displays and indulge yourself in the cafe - four birds with one stone!”
