A horticultural group is calling on volunteers to help spruce up a town with their spare snowdrops.

Melton in Bloom is asking people who may have a few of the plants to spare in their gardens to donate them.

Chairman Margaret Pearson said: "We'd like to plant them around St Mary's Church where they would come up year after year. The older generation in particular love to see snowdrops.

"At this time of year you can plant snowdrops already growing or flowering."

Donations can be left in the church porch from today onwards.
