Dyer sends City clear at top

Leicester City went three points clear at the top of League One with a thrilling 3-2 victory at Huddersfield.

The first half was goalless but City looked to be taking control when  in-form Matty Fryatt struck in the 50th and 65 minutes to put them 2-0 ahead.

But the hosts pegged them back with strikes from  Gary Roberts  and Liam Dickinson.

However, Lloyd Dyer, who is fast becoming a City fans’ favourite, sealed the win when he lobbed the ball over home goalkeeper Matt Glennon in the final minute.

City  made a strong start to the game and dominated the opening 15 minutes with Nicky Adams and Andy King both going close.

Glennon denied Fryatt twice in two minutes with good saves but the visitors made the perfect start to the second half when they eventually went ahead after 50 minutes.

Adams went on a surging run down the right side and fed Fryatt who finished neatly from the middle of the penalty area.

Fryatt doubled his tally 15 minutes later when Jim Goodwin handled in the area and the  striker converted the spot-kick into the bottom-left corner.

Huddersfield got back in to the match after 70 minutes when Roberts fired in to the bottom corner from the edge of the area and they levelled eight minutes later when Dickinson headed home Goodwin's cross from six yards out.

But City  were not going to be denied though and Dyer’s late turn and shot looped over Glennon and into the goal.

Full reaction in Monday’s Leicester Mercury.
