Golf: City legends boost open day

Golf professional Steve Fowkes and his business partner Steve Witherington celebrated taking over ownership of the Discovery Golf Centre at Snibston with an open day.

Among the 150 guests were Leicester City legends Steve Walsh and Gerry Taggart.

Fowkes and Witherington have made many improvements to the facility, including a well-fitted professional's shop and a refurbished bar and lounge.

"We have made many improvements since taking over," said Fowkes. "With the superb existing facilities, which include an 18-bay floodlit driving range with power tees and a nine-hole par-three course, we look forward to welcoming customers old and new to the venue."
