Hinckley, promoted to Midlands One after winning the Midlands Two play-off last season, are proving a hard side to beat on home turf.

They kicked off the season with a 15-13 win at home to Chester and, on Saturday, saw off Peterborough 25-20.

Sandwiched in between was a 15-7 defeat at Luctonians, who have won all three of their games so far and are joint leaders.

Hinckley scored three tries against Peterborough via Evan Morgan, Ben Ashfield and Spencer Eke.

Morgan also kicked two penalties while Will Keeling added two conversions.

South Leicester, though,

were well beaten 47-19 by Newport (Salop).

They were taught a lesson in finishing by a rampant Newport side who scored seven tries and converted six.

Ash Stevens sniped a try for South and Mark Lord had a perfect day with the boot, landing five kicks from five attempts.

Syston continue to impress in Midlands Two East and maintained their 100-per-cent record with a 13-6 win at Mansfield.

The Coltman brothers, Luke and Kyle, scored tries and Ian Smith landed a penalty.

Syston, Scunthorpe and Dunstablians share top spot in the table with six points each.

Market Bosworth, however, are still searching for their first point after going down 23-12 at home to Newark.

Vipers left it late to pip Leicester Forest in Midlands Three East (South), scoring a converted try on the whistle to win 17-14.

Vipers were 14-10 down with seconds to go after Dean Mooney had gone over for Forest with Johnny Roux adding two penalties and a drop goal.

Vipers had scored through a Steve Freher try, converted by Dave Richards, who also added a penalty.

But, right on time, Lee Simmons went over for Vipers and, after Richards converted, there was no time for Forest to hit back.

Aylestone St James won their first game of the season – and did it in style when they crushed Northampton BBOB 25-0.

Tries were scored by winger Jake Harmer (2) and scrum- half Jamie Howe. Glenn Chapman kicked two conversions and two penalties.

Lutterworth were beaten by a late try as Northampton Old Scouts won 22-18.

Lutterworth were hit by the double whammy of an opportunistic Old Scouts try and losing captain Paul Riley with a rib injury after 17 minutes.

Northampton added a second try before Andy Burgess pulled back three points with a penalty.

Scouts added a third try just before half-time but Tom Hooper went over for Lutterworth. Then Ben Hooper added a second, converted by Burgess to level the scores at 15-15.

Burgess hit a penalty to put Lutterworth 18-15 ahead with 10 minutes left. But Scouts scored a converted try for victory.
