Triathlon: Charnwood's Jonathan Riall shines in North Norfolk event

Charnwood's Jonathan Riall produced a terrific performance in the North Norfolk Olympic Triathlon.

He clocked 2hr 15min 43sec for the sea swim, bike ride and run to finish seventh out of a strong field of 88 competitors.

Jane Spencer and Pete Cox represented the Tri-Club at the Derby Triathlon which involved a 400m swim, 18k bike ride and 5k run and attracted 606 entrants.

Spencer finished 11th in her age-group in a time of 1.17.38 while Cox was 46th in his section in a time of 1.08.44.

Charnwood were also out in force at the Last-Minute Southwell Triathlon, which was a 400m swim, 19.3k bike ride and 5k run.

The club celebrated as Ryan Wilkinson won his age-group and finished 10th overall in a time of 55.47.

Carl Shaw maintained the club's strong showing by finishing second in his age-group and third overall in 50.42.

Rob Pearce was 44th out of 68 in his age-group after clocking 1.10.

Jonathon Bicknell was ninth out of 47 in his age-group in 1.04 while Paul Shreeves, competing in the over-55s, finished in a time of 1.15.

There was also a good number of performances from the Charnwood women as Carolyn Osborne finished second in her age-group in 1.06.47. Julia Blewitt-Jenkins was 103rd in 1.03 while Zoe Allery clocked 1.10.29.

Jane Spencer was struggling with a virus but still managed a 1.12 finish to be fifth in her age group.

Charnwood's Simon Cole finished 10th in the North West Classic Triathlon in a time of 1.04.24.

The swim section was held in the only heated brine pool in the country.
