I can't wait to taste derby atmosphere, says Bruno Berner

Leicester City defender Bruno Berner has never experienced the cut and thrust of an English derby but he is relishing his first taste of the M69 showdown today.

The Swiss international has been involved in derby battles on the continent and he says he enjoys them, but he has never experienced the unique nature of English local rivalries.

"I have not experienced an English derby before so I am really looking forward to it," he said. "We have derbies on the continent as well, so it will not be that new for me.

"There will be more pepper in it, both on the stands and on the pitch. That is what a derby is all about. We are very excited and looking forward to it.

"I love derbies, they are most enjoyable. There will be a huge crowd so it will be very loud, hopefully.''

Berner said confidence was sky-high in the City camp after their morale-boosting victory at Middlesbrough on Tuesday – their first away win of the season.

"We were jumping in the dressing room after the win," he said. "It was our first away win of the season and a massive win for us. We had to work hard for it and we are very pleased.

"All we wanted to do was bounce back after the defeat against Preston and we did that well. We showed a great attitude and desire to win. In the end we were fortunate, but we deserved it as well.

"For the morale it is fantastic, but not just because it is our first away win.

"They have just been relegated from the Premier League, don't forget.

"It was a massive three points and we want to carry that on. For this week to be really successful we want to finish the job at Coventry with another victory.

"Last season we had a similar game at Scunthorpe and it was a huge win. From then on, I thought we would be hard to beat. At the moment, I have exactly the same feeling.

"With this huge away win on Tuesday we have to believe even more now that we can achieve a lot this season."

Standing in City's way will be Coventry's in-form strike duo of Clinton Morrison and Leon Best, who have both scored six goals each this season, with Best firing five in his last five games. However, Berner doesn't believe they will pose any sterner test than they have already faced in their previous 10 league games this season.

"I don't think they will be any bigger a threat than any of the other teams we have played if we perform as we did on Tuesday," he said.

"I said after the Preston game we should be more compact and keep the lines between us better and if we do that we would be okay.

"It won't just be these two players against the defence, it will be 11 versus 11. If our shape is right and our discipline is right, and our desire to win is right, then I don't see any problems.

"Of course we hope do respect them. We know they are in good form. We are well-informed but I don't see any difference to other games."

Coventry will be without defenders Ben Turner and Marcus Hall who are both suffering from knee injuries.
