You can't rely on the weather ... so invest in these
By Linda Steelyard
Tsk! This weather! It doesn’t know if it’s Arthur or Martha. One minute it’s teasing us with warm and golden hints of things to come over the summer months, lulling us into a false sense of sun-kissed security. The next, it’s making us dig out our wellies, coats, scarves and brollies again. Well, we’ll show it.
We’re going to keep our lovely summer clothes close to hand. But we’re also going to make sure that we have the most gorgeous, colourful waterproof goodies around us for when it rains or when the temperature drops.
Talk to the hand, winter. Now it’s time for a dollop of spring fun.
1. Flowery umbrella
This pretty little number is cheerful and colourful but not garish, and its “birdcage” shape will ensure you stay dry. It costs £12.99 and is available from Blacks.
Find Blacks in Granby Street, Leicester city centre, and at Thurmaston shopping centre.
2. Green mac
It’s in a spring fresh colour, its belt will show off your waist and its shortie length will flatter most shapes and sizes. Sateen mac, £40, by David Emanuel at Bonmarche.
The designer’s collection is available at the store in the Haymarket shopping centre, Leicester.
3. Striped wellies, for children
Sorry, but these wellies are strictly for little feet only.
They’re nicely nautical – which makes them perfect for messing about in water.
They cost £12, and are in sizes six to 12 from John Lewis, Highcross Leicester. There’s a nice, striped rain jacket to match them, too. It’s available for ages two to eight, and costs £25.
4. Summer scarf
No, cheeky, we haven’t just included this pic because this young man is easy on the eye. Honest. He’s wearing a light, bright, summer scarf which is perfect for keeping out chilly breezes.
It’s available from branches of Burton and it costs £10.
5. Rose Nuit de Mai
Whatever the weather, however dull the sky, you’ll never forget its spring when your skin is perfumed with L’Occitane’s Rose Nuit de Mai.
It launched last week and is inspired by the fields of roses which perfume the air in Provence at this time of year. If you like wearing the fragrance of roses, it’s a must-buy.
It’s available in shower gel, shimmering lotion and eau de toilette.
Prices start at £12.50. Available at the L’Occitane shop in Highcross Leicester.
