Not-so-tasty burger had a caterpillar inside bun
Will Bircham could have been forgiven for thinking he was in the jungle with Ant and Dec.
The unfortunate 18-year-old, from Oadby, experienced his own Bush Tucker Trial after finding a dead caterpillar inside a McDonald's burger.
Will visited the fast-food restaurant, in Barkby Thorpe Lane, Thurmaston, on Saturday with his mum and girlfriend.
They ordered three meals from the drive-through but after taking a couple of bites out of his Big Tasty burger, he opened the bun and found the dead insect inside.
The 18-year-old said: "At first my mum thought it was just some mouldy lettuce but then I looked closer and it was obvious it was a caterpillar. I could see all its hair and its feet, it was disgusting.
"I took one or two bites out of the burger before I opened it up as well. I could easily have bitten in to the caterpillar so obviously I felt a bit funny.
"I imagine it was in with the lettuce but it should have been washed and not ended up in my meal.
"It's the type of thing you might see them serving up on I'm A Celebrity at the moment."
Will phoned the restaurant and said he was offered free meals and vouchers by an apologetic member of McDonald's staff.
"I told them I wasn't interested," he said. "I won't be wanting to eat there again."
Girlfriend Daisy Da Sparham, 17, also from Oadby, took some pictures of the burger on her mobile phone.
She said: "It was pretty vile."
A McDonald's spokesman said: "We are very sorry that we didn't live up to our usual high quality standards.
"Our strict quality control procedures include thorough washing of our lettuce as well as a visual quality check, and we offer our sincere apologies for this isolated incident which is under investigation."

“Hmmm (aka Tony Church),
You are the only one that mentions it is the private sector. Do you have a problem with the private sector? I don't. I don't have a problem with the public sector either because without both of these things, the Country ceases to function.
By the way, its "his arguments".”
