Young gymnasts impress judges

Thurnby Lodge: Willowbrook Primary School entered a team to compete in Leicester City Schools Intermediate Gymnastics Competition held recently at Hamilton Community College.

Loudez Jones, Chelsea Newcombe, Jessica Keavney impressed the judges with their body management and floor routines and vault jumps.

Jessica finished fourth, best intermediate gymnast in the under-11's group in all of the Leicester City Schools and the others well placed overall.

Willowbrook has recently earned top awards form the Youth Sport Trust which is a charity that helps children across Britain to access high quality PE and sport in school. The school has achieved the given Activemark and Sportmark for the excellent way PE is taught at the school. It is hoped that more pupils will join the club.

Year 6 teachers and school said a big thank you to the Newcome family who created a life size model of the Tardis.

This was for a film they made where the children took part in all the aspects of making the film. The project drew on literary skills, designs and model sets.
