Blackpool boss Ian Holloway admits he probably would not have enjoyed the success he has had with the Tangerines if it was not for his time as Leicester City boss.

Holloway was at the helm with City as they slipped into the third tier of English football for the first time in the club's history and was subsequently sacked by then City chairman Milan Mandaric.

Holloway has never been forgiven by many City fans for that failure.

However, he has rebuilt his career and his reputation as a manager with Blackpool, leading them into the Premier League and into the play-off final last season.

"My time at Leicester helped me with my life and really helped me with my next job at Blackpool," he said.

"I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing here without what happened to me at Leicester.

"I can guarantee Leicester fans that every single day I went into that club I tried my best.

"Whatever I seemed to do there didn't really work, but there wasn't one day I gave up – not ever.

"It was like my worst nightmare ever. Leicester are a great club, the fans didn't moan at me much when I was there.

"I've learnt from that awful feeling and I was strong enough to look at what I did, dust myself down and get back going."

Holloway has a dismal record as a manager at the King Power Stadium and believes his side will have to be on top form if that is to change.

"I've not won at Leicester for years and I'm sick and fed up of that."

Blackpool will come up against the one that got away today when Jamie Vardy lines up for City.

The 25-year-old was the subject of a bid by Blackpool last season during his time at neighbours Fleetwood, but it was City and manager Nigel Pearson who showed more desire to snap up the striker with a £1million bid in the summer.

Vardy has already started to repay the faith Pearson has shown in him with goals in the Capital One Cup at Torquay and last weekend at Blackburn.

Pearson said Vardy, who was rested for the midweek Capital One Cup defeat to Burton Albion but will come back into the side this afternoon, has demonstrated he is determined to take the opportunity afforded to him, as he shows Blackpool's loss is City's gain.

"I have been very pleased with him," said Pearson.

"He has come in and settled in very quickly. His work-rate is phenomenal, in and out of possession, but also he gets into goalscoring positions.

"He is unlucky not to have two more goals because the two he has had disallowed were unlucky.

"He will work hard throughout the season and will bring a lot of energy to the side.

"It will be nice to have him back involved today."

“A good game with both teams playing attacking football. How it ended one nil is a mystery. The goals will come for Nugent and Vardy sooner rather than later. Can't quite get my head round Schlupp at full back but he didn't look out of place. I would sooner he came on up front instead of Beckford who looked like he wanted to be somewhere else.Looks like we still need some cover at the back. Love how a lot of people had set this up as a defeat for us being a foregone conclusion. Apparently British Gas have just had a phone call from a Mr Satan enquiring about central heating as it was a bit icy in his house last night. Don't you just love the HDM'S? Yes all isn't fixed at Leicester yet, but there are signs of improvement. I would take a point at Wolves and move on from there. Come on you Blue Bys!”

“Vardy unselfishly tried to turn back several scoring opportunities for his fellow forwards to convert.

With a bit more confidence he will score again and again. 5 matches into his professional career and growing in confidence with every match.

    What a signing NP”

“oh you know what Nigella, forgot to mention something you said about credit for turning young Mr.Moore from a full back into a centre half..strange because none other than our Nigel himself was giving the credit for that very fact to playing alongside & learning from Wes Morgan in his post match interview...not trying to say you've got it wrong again or anything :)”

“Nigella...if NIGEL PEARSON starts to produce some CONSISTENT results you can bet your last dollar that I'll send him my thanks...but remember that good old British saying that quotes something about swallows and summers? ... And there's another one, something about counting chickens & hatched eggs...I've been away for eight years now, but I'm sure you'll know what I'm on about...
Re Schlupp...I'm sure he put a sterling performance today as a full back, but my guess is that he's in all probability a far more resounding prospect up front ..which draws me to the conclusion that if there were adequate cover at the back, Mr. Schlupp wouldn't have to worry about proving himself at full back..a point that didn't escape a certain Alan Young today.. Now run off to the bank before they close :)... oh forgot it's Saturday...you'll have to wait till Monday.
Holiday here on Monday Nigella, which will give me even more time to ponder over today's victory...after all, you have to make he most of hem when they come along :)

“Well thank you Ulrika, but I couldn't possibly take the credit.

The person who deserves the credit for turning a youth team right-back into possibly the most promising centre-back in the Division is a young man by the name of NIGEL PEARSON!

I'll be sure to pass on your thanks to him :D

In Schlupp he also seems to have found a very promising left-back!”

“Nigella... couldn't find a stream for some reason, so had to settle for listening to it...but you're right, sounds like Moore had another great game & is an outstanding prospect...
there I've said it..you're right about something, take it to the bank quick !
Have a good weekend mate..you deserve it after this week :)”
