Leicester Tigers head to France this weekend for a pre-season training camp that will not be for the faint-hearted.

The club will be based in the Brive area and are due to end their week-long stay with a friendly against the Top 14 outfit – formerly home to ex-Tigers fly-half Andy Goode – at the Stade Aime Giral.

Tigers will then return to England to begin preparations for their opening pre-season game of the campaign away to Nottingham on Friday, August 13.

Tigers' training camps are usually full-on affairs with little to distract the players from a series of physically intense training sessions.

According to director of rugby Richard Cockerill, this summer trip looks to be no different.

Campaign

"It will be tough and fair," he said.

"We don't train for the sake of training but it will be hard because the game of rugby is hard.

"I want to make training harder than the games so that we are use to that intensity when we are in tough situations."

A week after the match at Nottingham, Tigers take on European heavyweights Munster at Musgrave Park, before entertaining Leinster at Welford Road on August 27.

Tigers begin their Aviva Premiership campaign at Northampton on Sunday, September 5.
