Two drivers appeared in court yesterday over the deaths of two young women in separate road accidents.

Natasha Jackson, of Groby, and Becki Holwell, of Mountsorrel, both lost their lives in accidents which could have been avoided.

Natasha, 21, died in a head-on collision on the A46, in Nottinghamshire, on Christmas Day last year.

Martyn Crew (52), of San Carlos, California, yesterday pleaded guilty to causing Natasha's death by careless or inconsiderate driving.

Firefighters cut Natasha free and she was airlifted to the Queen's Medical Centre, in Nottingham, but died soon afterwards.

Becki, 20, was a passenger in her boyfriend Ben Crossley's car when he crashed into a tree, killing her.

Crossley (25) was jailed for two years yesterday at Leicester Crown Court after he admitted causing hairstylist Becki's death by careless driving.

He was driving his new sports car "like a rocket" when he lost control approaching a roundabout on the A6, between Loughborough and Quorn, on August 28 last year, the court heard.

Becki died at the scene.
