Leicester Triathlon Club noticed a big upsurge in inquiries during the Olympics.

The club, which has 250 members, helped Triathlon England run a stand at the big screen in Humberstone Gate during the men's and women's triathlon events.

It included the chance for members of the public to try out an endless pool – where they could swim or exercise against a broad, deep current.

Club secretary Samantha Rankin said: "We had about 50 or so inquiries during the Olympics which led to 10 or 15 people joining the club."

The club runs sessions in the city and county, including at the Saffron Lane racetrack, Enderby leisure centre and De Montfort University leisure centre in Western Boulevard.

She said: "The Supersprint is achievable and you don't need to have a particularly swanky bike."

Paratriathlete Haseeb Ahmed, from Leicester, is a club member.
