Four vie for varsity post
Hundreds of students were expected to gather at De Montfort University today to quiz prospective Students' Union presidential candidates.
The event was set to take place outside the Hugh Aston and Hawthorn buildings, near the Magazine, at about 1pm.
Four candidates – James Moorey, Lynette Williams, Ben Ashby and Amer Reza – are in the running for the role of SU president.
Students were to get the chance to quiz all four hopefuls in an open debate.
The event will be chaired by the university's vice chancellor, Dominic Shellard.
Voting will close at midnight on Thursday, and the winner will be announced at 7pm on Friday.
